GHATS OF VARANASI

Varanasi is one of the most ancient cities in the world. According to Hindusim Lord Shiva laid the foundation of this holy city and according to holy literature the river Ganga originates from the hair of Lord Shiva which flows along the city beside which the city is situated. The are the places running along the river where holy ceremonies are performed including cremation i.e burning of dead bodies. According holy books of hindusim it is mentioned the once a person's body is burned in Varanasi and its ashes are made to go into the holy river then his or her's soul gets freedom from the cycle of rebirth and death that is the reason so many people in India wishes to die in Varanasi.

Since ghats are running along the coast of Ganges covering many kilometers it provides a great place for the people to chill and  and it serves a great spot of tourist attraction as near the ghats there are many hotels and restraunts. It also serves as a great spot for the people who wants to get a little high by gentely feeling the cool breeze blowing along the ghat where many students come with there musical instruments specially during night time and they perform among themselves and one can simply sit and enjoy the ambiance of the ghat which makes the feel of it even greater.

One of the best times to visit the ghats is in the early mornings and the evenings as the temperature remains cool and the most fascinating thing is that one can visit the 'artees 'i.e the prayer done for the river goddess Ganga. The beauty of watching the artee during the evening time while sitting on the boat is must to experience. Being a native I can tell you the these are the experiences  which you will tough at some ghats cleanness is an issue but most of the ghats is quite clean.

If one is really planning to take a visit to ghats of Varanasi then the best time of the year is winter, summers are also good but monsoon are the one which is not advised as the level of the river of increses to a great extent every year and most of the ghats gets consumed into it and flow of the river is also going to  very fast so boats are also not going to give you any tour and that is the season when Dengue also starts spreading as the stagnant  at many places serves as great breeding ground for mosquitos. At the I want to conclude that it is a must place to visit if one is visiting Varanasi as it gives a whole new experience.
